Dalton came into this world against all odds on May 3rd, 1995. Weighing only 2 lbs and 13 inches long. He was born 3 months early to Brandy Ekblad (Mitchell). The first 3 months of Daltons life was spent in the NICU at LDS Hospital. After life in the incubator, and passing multiple tests, he was able to come home with a single young mother. With lots of help from immediate family we grew up together. Later in life we would leave his grandmas home, and the 2 of us set out together.
Dalton did well in school graduation with a 3.7 GPA. He found his love for guitars and some auto mechanics from 2 of his favorite high school teachers, Mr. Alan Gatenby and Mr. Rob Wilson, both of which has passed on. Dalton formed lasting bonds and relationships with friends along the way. He decided to attend UTI (Universal Technology Institute) for college. After 1 week he put his dreams and aspirations aside, stood fast and came home where he felt he was needed more. He had a sister on the way and a mom on bed rest. He came home, got a job and kept food in the house and helped keep the bills paid.
Dalton loved his sister more than anything. She was the light of his life, and in her words "he completes me." He was always there to help her anywhere from school work, to taking her to or from school, or taking her places to play. Although they were 18 years apart, they had a bond that was unbreakable and hard to match. Many days for hours on end, Dalton would be downstairs and Ravyn upstairs on the phone building something in Minecraft, or building Legos. We bought a pool table a while back, recovered it and even used it a few times. I believe Dalton won most of the time. That was until it became Lego central for building up all the Lego sets. We will play again one day and holler at Dalton that it is his turn. That day may be a ways away.
His other loves besides his family were Hockey, concerts, formula 1 racing, movies, Legos, and videogames. A Colorado Avalanche fan through and through, no matter how bad their season was going. His love for music and concerts were diverse. His favorite band being Linkin Park. He was so happy when they got their new singer. He loved to go to Lee Kay and shoot. I don't think he made it there as often as he would have liked to.
He found a love of long bows from the only man who stepped up to be a Dad. Dalton was always there to help, sometimes begrudgingly, with anything asked. The last being moving blacksmithing and woodworking equipment over. His favorite question was always " Does Doug own anything light." Dalton was looking forward to learning the tips and tricks and start playing with steel, and doing woodworking, which he had not done since High School. He was also looking forward to getting a place with a friend of his and get out on his own. Always keeping his family in mind and talking to us ahead of time. That is just who he was.
"Dalton was a beacon of kindness, generosity and warmth. He touched the lives of everyone around him. His customers held him in the highest regard. He formed bonds with them that went far beyond business. Zach Olson" supervisor. His customers reached out to us to give their condolences as did the hotel he stayed at 2 nights a week. His love and caring for people is hard to match. His co-workers were family to him and him to them.
Dalton had a love for family that was unbreakable. For many years, Dalton was our biggest protector until recently when Doug came into our lives, taking Dalton under his wing and being a Dad that Dalton never had.
Dalton has passed on his love for videogames, music and hockey to his sister who cherishes every last moment as we all do.
Dalton left this world to begin his next chapter/adventure on January 13th, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his favorite cat Ricky whom he missed just as much as he loved him. Dalton was the only person in the world that dang cat liked.
He is survived by his parents Brandy & Doug Ekblad, his sister Ravyn Mitchell, brother Kelton (Natasha) Ekblad, grandparents: Bobbie Nicholes, Steve (Rosemarie) Mitchell, aunts Brittaney Mitchell, Elisha (Tony) Bray, and so many more loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dalton, You, your smile, love, and laughter are so greatly missed. Rest easy my son, I got it from here. You will always be our baby boy!! We love you.
