Dalene Lamb Fackrell

Dalene Lamb Fackrell passed away on February 25, 2025. She was born October 21, 1936 in Kanab, Utah to Osmer Lamb and Lela Clark Lamb, and raised in Mt. Carmel, Utah on the family farm that she affectionately referred to as “down home”. She came from a large family of 11 children and an additional 5 half brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband David Nessen Fackrell; her sister Carolyn Lamb Cram; her 4 sons, Craig (Anne), Randy (Taunia), Daren, and Kirk (Chantel); 17 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

She was married and sealed to Dave on December 21, 1957 in the St. George Temple. Her family was the focal point of her life, and she spent much of her time sacrificing for their welfare, and making their lives better. She put her family’s welfare above her own, and went without, to give them opportunities that would have otherwise been unfulfilled. She was proud of her pioneer ancestry, and made sure her boys and grandchildren knew about the lives of those who had gone before them. The family spent many cherished holidays and vacations in Mt. Carmel and Orderville with extended family, and remained close to them throughout her life. It was important to her that her descendants valued family, and appreciated their extended family. Her sisters and brothers were her closest confidants, and she prioritized her time to be with them, and stay in touch with them. She remained in close contact with her nieces and nephews, who in turn loved her for her concern and interest in their lives.

She graduated from Dixie College and then went to beauty school in Provo with her sister Carolyn. During her time there she met Dave, and they were eventually married and moved to Midvale, Utah where they settled down and raised their family in the same home they lived in until her passing. She worked from home in the shop Dave built in the basement. Her patrons were more than just customers to her, and over the years they became her dear friends. She was concerned for them, and as they would age, she made extra efforts to watch over them and meet their needs.

Mom inherited the drive to work hard from her parents, along with the desire to be frugal, and live within her means. She passed those qualities along to her sons and grandchildren. One of her frustrations in her later years was that she couldn’t work in the yard, around the house, and at the duplexes like she wanted to. We teased her that even though she couldn’t work, she could always find projects for the rest of us to do. The lives of her descendants have been blessed greatly by her drive to work hard to better their situations, and save for a rainy day.

She was always a BYU fan, and had season tickets to basketball for many years from the time the Marriott Center opened, and to football since the stadium was expanded. She inherited the love of BYU from her dad, and passed it along to her sons and grandchildren. Later she became an avid Utah Jazz fan, and always loved watching the games on TV. Watching a game with mom was always an adventure, because when something good happened you had to prepare for the inevitable slap on the knee and cheer.

A love of the gospel and testimony of its truthfulness was central to her life. She passed those on to her sons and grandchildren. She didn’t spend a lot of time talking about it, but just lived it. We never wondered where she stood regarding her faith. It was part of her soul. She held many callings through the years in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women organizations. Her favorite was the years she spent in Young Women coaching and teaching the girls. She was a great athlete when she was in high school, and loved working with the girls and sharing her passion for sports, and love of the gospel with them.

Although we will miss her daily interactions in our lives, her influence will continue with us because of what she taught us and the life she lived. We sorrow for the missing space she has filled in our lives, but rejoice that she is with those that have gone before us. Mostly we celebrate a life well lived by our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, sister, and aunt.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood Ward located at 240 Greewood Circle (7570 S.), Midvale.
