Curtis LaMar Whitlock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away March 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. LaMar was born in Murray, Utah on August 17, 1930 to William Curtis and Elizabeth Auleen (Olsen) Whitlock. He married the love of his life, Merle Mickelson, in 1950 and they enjoyed many happy years together. After serving in the United States Army, he returned to Utah and pursued a career in construction and established his own drywall business. LaMar was known for his integrity, selflessness, and compassion. He taught his family the value of hard work and dedication.
LaMar is survived by his wife Merle, his son Brad (Pam), daughter Lisa (Brian) Bown and son McRae (Kristin), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and brother LeVoy (Shirley). Preceded in death by sisters Betty Jean Noland and Carol Lee Padjen.
Viewing will be held Monday, March 6 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State Street, Midvale, UT). Funeral services will be held at the East Midvale 2nd Ward Chapel (7250 S 300 E, Midvale, UT) on Tuesday, March 7 at 11 am with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the West Jordan Cemetery (7800 S 1300 W).
