“Corky” Gordon Everitt Thomson

“Corky” Gordon Everitt Thomson (80) passed away at his home on December 13, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah to Gordon and Renon (Everitt) Thomson. When he was born, his dad gave him the nickname Corky. He got the name Everitt because his grandpa Everitt said he would give $100 to the first person that was named Everitt. He was raised in Ephraim, Utah, and graduated from Manti High School. He joined the National Guard the week after he graduated from high school.

He met his sweetheart, Myrna Madsen at Snow College. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on September 6, 1963. After their marriage, they moved to Nephi where he was employed at Thermoid Rubber Plant. He worked there until he moved on to run his own business, Everitt’s Conoco. He was proud of his business where he could serve those in the community through his full service station, especially serving the elderly. He had many people that would make sure to stop at his gas station whenever they traveled through Nephi. He operated his business until 1990.

Myrna and Corky raised their four kids in Nephi. Corky was very proud of his yard and garden. His family remember him spending countless hours in his garden on his hands and knees picking every tiny little weed. He was proud to have a weedless garden. He loved camping out in Cherry Creek and up Ephraim Canyon. After he retired he enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona. He also enjoyed his Monday rides with his friend Charles Parkin.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna and children, Russell (Jodie) Thomson, Vernon, Utah; Cory (Alicia) Thomson, Nephi, Utah; Pauline (David) Sorensen, Fountain Green, Utah; Brandon (Susie) Thomson, Nephi, Utah; 11 grandkids and 10 great grandkids. Siblings Bonnie (Bob) Sevy, Jim (Vicki) Thomson, Patsy (Bruce) Pace, all of Ephraim, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Renon Thomson, sister Sandy Thomson, and grandson Rylan Thomson. 

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:45 am at Vine Bluff Cemetery (1200 N 400 E, Nephi) with military honors.
