Cora Bake

January 26, 1935 — November 28, 2022

Cora Bake

Cora Bake passed peacefully in her sleep November 28, 2022 at her home in Sandy, Utah. Cora Bell Aldrich began life on January 26, 1935 in Winnemucca, Nevada where she was born to Frank Aldrich and Grace Gebhart.

Raised in mining camps during the Great Depression, Cora learned to value hard work, thriftiness, and independence. She described making her first gravy at nine years old, which was so bad that even the cats wouldn’t eat it. By age seventeen she was cooking for an entire hay crew. Over the years, food service would become a central part of her life. She retired in 2003 as a famously favorite school lunch worker who made the best rolls to be found in the Jordan School District. Cora also loved ceramics, gardening, and horses. Her home was filled with decorations she had carefully made, and with blooming flowers, both inside and out. She freely shared her hobbies and generous spirit, creating countless lasting bonds and happy memories with her devoted family.

Cora is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Frank Bake, and her siblings Mary Jane, Richard, and Fred. She is survived by her children Neal, Gwen (Grant) Goodmansen, Dennis, Denise (Steve) Moss, Kirk, and Dale John (Barbara), as well as 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thank you to those who provided tender care in her last days.
