Constance Ann Gabbott Anderson

Constance "Connie" Ann Gabbott Anderson (82), passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on January 18th, 2019.

Connie is survived by her husband of 60 years Otto Lee Anderson, son Gene Anderson (Melonie), daughter Nadine Steinfeldt (Randy), son Gary Anderson, (Walnetta), son Brent Anderson (Hollie), daughter Barbara James (Dan), son Russell Anderson (Mikalene) and "adopted" children Connie and Craig Richins, who frequently took great care of Connie and Otto, 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, her sister Kaye Carlson (Paul), and many nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents John Hopper, and Ruth Edith Gabbott, and grandson Justin Grass.

Connie was born June 19, 1936 to John Hooper and Ruth Edith Gabbott, she was the first of two girls. Connie was always close to her little sister Kaye. Connie grew up in Salt Lake City and had many friends and cousins she dearly enjoyed. While Connie was attending BYU she hitched a ride back home to Salt Lake and just happened to be in the same car where she met Otto Anderson and later married him. They were married August 15,1958 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Connie graduated from BYU with her teaching degree. Otto and Connie lived in Springville, Utah. Her first child Gene was born, then Nadine, Gary, Brent, Barbara and then Russell. Otto wanted land and Connie wanted to be closer to her mom, dad and sister. They found 2 acres in Draper and have lived there since 1969. They all lived in a single wide trailer on their property while Otto and Connie's father built their home.

Connie loved everyone, but she really loved all of the children she taught at Draper Elementary. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister and teacher. She earned a Masters Degree while still teaching school. Connie loved her children and their spouses; she really loved her grandkids and great grandkids. Her neighbors Craig and Connie Richins were like her own children and she loved them very much; they are Ministering Angels. Otto would call her Mother Teresa because she was always doing good for someone and not thinking of herself. Connie loved to brighten peoples' birthdays with a call from her. She, Otto and anyone who happened to be there would sing them Happy Birthday.

Connie loved playing the piano, she played the organ in church for many years and loved it! She served faithfully in many church callings throughout her life. Connie served in the Jordan River Temple and also served as a missionary in Stockton California at the Bavarian Nut Factory. Connie taught English to the workers while Otto kept the machinery running. Connie was very organized and loved journaling, loved sudoku, and hated to lose at checkers. Connie was the love of Otto's life. The Cowboy and the Lady sure made a dent in this old world. Connie will be greatly missed and will be forever in our hearts. We love you mom!

All who knew Connie will deeply miss her love of life, kind heart, and contagious laugh. Our family would like to thank Laneia "Nini" Taunaholo for the tender, 24-hour care she provided. Nini loved our mother and continues to love our father. We love and appreciate all she has done. We would also like to thank the Hospice and Homecare professionals who helped with Mom's care.
