Connie (Gonzales) Ochoa

Connie Gonzales Ochoa was born on February 18, 1942, to Tomas Gonzales and Guadalupe Arceo in Bingham Canyon, Utah. Her life has always been defined by the passion she has had for her family beginning with her parents, moving to her brothers and sisters then to her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and lastly her great-great grandchildren.

To Connie, family has always been the heart and soul of her existence, as the youngest daughter Connie was raised in a family of extraordinary love. Connie is survived by her five daughters and their spouses, Linda and Richard Tovar, Tammy Gonzalez, Kathy Ochoa and Barbara Mock, Eleanor and Jesus Lopez, and Serafina Ochoa Ruiz, and her ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchilden. Connie has always shown extraordinary pride, compassion and patience for her family. Her connection to her Mexican heritage has been a landmark of her existence. Whether it's the food, music, art or commitment to family her passion has been absolute.

It’s not often that people are gifted with the incredible amount of strength that Connie had; she stood firm in the face of anything that was placed in front of her, and that is why so many people gravitated toward her throughout her life. Connie had hundreds of daughters, sons, and grandkids that did not share her blood, but that she claimed, nonetheless; she was a pillar for everyone to lean on. Connie gave everything even when she had nothing, she would still be willing to split the air that she breathed to make sure that whoever was in need was taken care of. Connie was a light for the lost, weary, and tired to seek out as a haven when they needed it most and she always welcomed them without judgement. Connie was always ready to greet you with a soft “have you eaten Mijo/Mija” whenever you returned. Our love, our light, our pillar will be deeply missed and never forgotten. You were deeply loved by all of us.

Connie passed away peacefully at home in her sleep with her family at her side on March 21, 2022. She was Catholic and loved her faith, she loved to worship and pray to the Virgin de Guadalupe and recite the Holy Rosary.

Connie was preceded in death by her mother and father Tomas and Guadalupe; her ex-husbands Lorenzo R Armijo and Antonio Ochoa Almanza; siblings Jenny Gonzales, Natalie and Faustine Vigil, Margie and Lawrence Lovato, David and Amy Gonzales, Anna and Juan Montoya, Beatrice Fresques, “Lolly” Raul and Georgia Gonzales, Rudy Gonzales, Tomas Gonzales Jr., and beloved granddaughter Vanessa Lachelle Gonzalez. Connie is also survived by her brothers, Mike Gonzales, Ross and Claire Gonzales, Louis and Shirley Gonzales, Gene and Judy Gonzales, Elifas Fresques as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing services will be held Sunday, March 27th at Goff Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 pm, located at 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah.

Catholic Mass will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, March 28th at St. Therese Catholic Church, located at 624 Lennox Street, Midvale, Utah 84047.

Interment services will be held following Mass at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6500 S. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville, UT 84123.
