Clyde Marlin Hettrick, Jr. peacefully departed on December 8, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of three children to Clyde Marlin Hettrick, Sr. and Anne Badovinatz Hettrick. His formative years were spent with his family in Highland Boy and Bingham, Utah. Clyde graduated from Bingham High School and the University of Utah. In 1961, he married his college sweetheart Moonyeen Newman. Together, they had two children, Clyde Marlin “CM” Hettrick, III and Gaye Hettrick. They were also blessed with two grandsons, Clyde Marlin “Cian” Hettrick, IV and Darragh Robert Hettrick. Throughout their lives, they resided in Salt Lake City, Utah, Culver City, California, Idaho Falls, Idaho, as well as Midvale and Sandy, Utah. Clyde was a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Clyde worked for Kennecott during college and Hercules Powder Company after graduating from the University of Utah. After moving to Culver City, California, he worked for Hughes Aircraft. He and his family then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho and he worked for Argonne National Laboratory. He then transitioned to working full time as a real estate agent and broker in Midvale and then Sandy, Utah.
Clyde was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His talents as an artist were admired by many. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending Jazz games. He and Moonyeen shared a passion for home remodeling, turning their houses into wonderful homes. He participated in the Rotary Club for 10 years and especially enjoyed volunteering for the Midvale Harvest Days.
He leaves behind his loving daughter Gaye, his grandsons Cian and Darragh, and many nieces and nephews whose lives he deeply influenced. Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife Moonyeen Hettrick, by his parents, Clyde Sr and Anne Hettrick, his son Clyde Marlin “CM” Hettrick, III, and his two sisters Shirley Bowen and Barbara “Bobbie” Wheatley. Also preceding him were Moonyeen’s parents, Tom and Desna Newman, her sister Carol Bartholomew and Carol’s husband John, her brother Maury Newman and Maury’s wife Bonnie, and her brother Elmer Newman and Elmer’s wife Maryann.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Valencia at Willowcreek Assisted Living for their exceptional care during Clyde’s recent health struggles. Clyde’s daughter Gaye provided unwavering support to her parents throughout their lives, especially in their later years.
As we mourn his passing, we cherish the precious memories of this remarkable man who touched the lives of many.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, January 21st from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale.
