Clifford Gary Jones

Gary passed away peacefully on May 19, 2021. Born in Oakland, California. The family moved to Utah where he earned his Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) (LCSW) at the University of Utah in 1965. He then moved to California where he worked at The Northern California Youth Authority working with incarcerated minors. Upon his return he got a job at the V.A. treating and helping Vietnam Veterans. When he left the V.A., he went to work at Valley High School as a Counselor/Teacher, and retired from there as one of the student's favorites. After retiring, he volunteered his time counseling suicide watch inmates at the Salt Lake County Jail.

Gary was a former member of the Alpenbock Climbing Club where he would climb any pitch that posed a challenge.

He was a talented writer, poet and sketch artist. He loved the outdoors, and spent his alone time with friends in the San Rafael Swell.

He loved to play his guitar and was taking lessons to master the "Art of Picking." He enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He was an avid University of Utah sports fan.

He will be missed by many but never forgotten.

Preceded in death by his parents Clifford G. Jones and Winifred Jones.

Survived by his wife Ardene Egbert Jones, former wife Geraldine (Gerri) Jones and their two daughters Andrea (Jeff) Bridgeforth and Adrienne Jones Sanders, stepsons Blake Gee and Brandon Gee (Ali), brother, Brian Jones (Susie), nephews, Ben Jones (Sally), Matt Jones (Taylor), and niece, Elly Green (Kris) with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He adored them all.
