Christine Longson

October 4, 1958 — August 30, 2018

Christine Longson

On August 30th, 2018, the giant heart of the most resilient woman we know stopped. Twenty years of fighting Multiple Sclerosis could not dim her indomitable spirit even though it destroyed her body. Nor could it dampen her desire to serve, love, be selfless and share her many talents. She defined ministering before ministering was defined.

She was born Christine Mitchell in 1958 to Walter (Stacey) and Patricia (Ed Ross) Mitchell. Younger brother Bob (LeeAnn), her best friend, followed shortly thereafter. All survive her.

She and I were in the same hospital nursery and thus began our lifelong love affair. We married in 1980 and thereafter were blessed with Zach (Meghann), Ali (Danny), Mitch (Kristin) and Sarah (Brett). Chris is a magnificent mother, grandmother (11 grandchildren) and perfect eternal partner. No woman was more unselfish to her loved ones, supporting us in all our personal passions.

Freed now from this dreadful disease and her pain-ravaged body, she's surely serving others and undoubtedly engaging as a ministering angel to all of us. Chris, we will love you forever! Your life has changed all of ours for good.

In true over-the-top-spirit of Chris a celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 (this won't be a traditional viewing) from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Hidden Valley Stake Center, 1450 E. Raddon Drive, Sandy, Utah. Come see the many pictures and memories she created and casually reminisce with friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, Chris would want all to spend more time with their spouse, family and friends.

Our very sincere thanks goes to so many who have supported her and our family over this long journey. Special mention goes to the palliative care team at the U of U Hospital whose exceptional care sustained us through her final weeks.
