"The Dew"

On the early morning hours of January 30th Charley slipped away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on September 6, 1947.  He was raised in Sandy,  Utah and attended Jordan High School.

Charley met his forever partner, Gloria, in 1972 after his military service in the Army. He married her in 1974 and together they had two boys, Justin and Dylan.

After an industrial accident as a steel fitter, he went on to driving trucks.  Not wanting to be far away from his family, he decided long haul was not the way to go. He then began driving cement trucks for a few different companies with Geneva Rock being the last.  Charley was easy going and made many friends along the way.

His greatest passion was his Harley and the two week road trips that he and Gloria would take with a handful of friends. There was never a dull moment whether going to Sturgis, the Glaciers or just to an outdoor concert.  His road trips abruptly ended after a few serious health bouts deprived him of riding his beloved motorcycle.

He loved golfing and the great outdoors, especially camping and fishing with family and friends.  When camping he would enjoy fashioning fire pits, benches and water mills etc. out of rocks.  Charley was very creative and artistic.

He enjoyed get-togethers with family, having a beer on his back patio and shooting the breeze with friends while playing pool.  Some of his favorite phrases were "cowboy-up" and "what's happening my people."

Charley was very generous and giving.  He was always wanting to help the less fortunate, especially the homeless.

Charley is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; sons Justin (Jennifer), Dylan (Kimberly); grandchildren, Alyssa, Trevor, Destinee and Daizja; brother-in-laws Al and Randy; sister-in-laws Rosemary, Maria and Diane; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Laura Christensen, brothers, Monte and Lessley; his beloved Granny, Irene Lessley and numerous aunts and uncles.

A viewing will be held from 3:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, February 3rd, at Goff Mortuary located at 8090 S. State St. in Midvale, Utah 84047.  Interment will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 6th at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
