My best friend - my beautiful, sweet mom, Carolyn Viola Malmberg Richardson, passed away April 14, 2018 at my home in Murray, Utah. She was born on November 21, 1928 in Southgate, California to Rosa Viola Thompson and Reginald Valentine Malmberg. In 1950 she met the man of her dreams, Earl Richardson, and was engaged and married within three months (marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple). Their beautiful marriage lasted over 59 years until he passed away in 2009. They were blessed with two children, Brent [deceased] (Lori Huey) and Susan (Melvin) Recksiek.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her compassion, selflessness, and positive attitude; for being an amazing mother and grandmother; and for being a cherished wife. Carolyn was a faithful member of the LDS church. Her two greatest loves in life were her family and traveling. Throughout her life, she was able to travel all over the world with her favorite places being Hawaii, Mexico, and China. Carolyn has six grandchildren and 3½ great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018, 11 am at the Union 1st Ward Chapel, 1535 East Creek Road, Sandy. A viewing will be held at 10 am prior to the service and on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street. Interment at Sandy City Cemetery.
