Carol Ann Mower passed away at the age of 87 on March 18, 2025, in Gunnison, Utah. Born October 19, 1937, to Nephi and Hattie Eugster, Carol grew up in Salt Lake City where she met and married her husband of 67 years, Dennis Mower. Soon after, they started their family of three sons, and two daughters.
Carol and Dennis moved from Taylorsville, Utah to Fountain Green, Utah where they lived together for 38 years. Carol loved country life, and it was there on “The Farm” that she would raise a variety of animals. She especially enjoyed taking care of her sheep and goats. She learned how to shear the sheep, comb the wool, dye it, spin it and knit it into something beautiful. She was a talented sewer and made the most gorgeous quilts. She could do anything she set her mind to and telling her she couldn’t, only strengthened her determination. Carol was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn, and she had many students. She met once a week with her wonderful group of knitting friends to spin wool and knit together. She always enjoyed their friendship and company.
Carol loved to travel and always dreamed of visiting Sequoia National Park to see the “big trees.” In May of 2024 she took a road trip with her daughters to fulfill this dream. She enjoyed going to her favorite Mexican restaurant and loved making her own chili verde.
Carol adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved giving them a place outside the city to run, play, explore and find great adventures. It gave her so much pleasure to see how her family had grown. She loved her family immensely and was always happy when we could all be together. We will miss her deeply.
Preceded in death by Nephi and Hattie Eugster (parents), David Eugster (brother), Keith Eugster (brother), Max Eugster (brother), Dorothy Howard (sister), Beverly Burns (sister), Dennis F. Mower (husband), and Steven E. Mower (son).
Survived by sons Dennis (Craig) Mower and Michael Allen Mower and daughters Patricia Mower (Long) and Stacy Mower (Peronnet), 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
A special thanks to Carol’s hospice nurses Pat and Dawn for their kind and compassionate care. Thank you, Ryan, for your patience and kindness in helping Carol through rough days and dark thoughts. Thank you, Carrie, for helping Carol finish the knitting and quilting projects she was unable to finish herself. It means so much to us all and these gifts will be cherished for generations to come. To all her knitting friends, thank you for visiting her and making her feel special. She looked forward to your visits each week.
Carol was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Mount Pleasant and will be missed by all. She found great comfort in her favorite bible passage Revelations 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
A private celebration of life will be held when the sun is warm, and the flowers are in bloom.
