Carol Hakanson

Carol Richards Hakanson passed away peacefully Monday, May 4, 2015, in Chesterfield, MO, surrounded by family.  Carol was born on December 24, 1942 in Murray, UT.  She grew up in Midvale, UT on Wasatch Street in a home built by her father, Howard Richards.  She carried on her family tradition by attending Jordan High School.  Carol was married to Dallas Hakanson on September 13, 1962, in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They raised their family in Hanford, CA.

Carol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She learned to serve others from her mother, Roma Richards.  She magnified her calling as a Compassionate Service Coordinator, always looking for ways to help people relieve their burdens.  Carol continually made sure everyone felt at home by providing guests' favorite snacks and meals.  She enjoyed rhyming sentences during conversation, speaking backwards, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her first 3 children, Bryan, Mark, and Angela (who all died as babies), as well as her parents, Roma and Howard Richards, and her older brother, Ted.  She is survived by her two sisters, Ann Thompson (Jerry) and Mary Berrett (Roy), Dallas Hakanson, her 5 children, Greg (Ali), Todd (Chanda), Jason (Krissy), Mariann (Loren Aston), Carolann (Sam Rogers), and 19 grandchildren, who she loved dearly.
