Carol Kay Durkes

Carol Kay (Jones) Durkes, 55, passed on March 16, 2021 in Murray, Utah.

Born on July 14, 1965 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she raised her two children and found her passion for antiques and human resources. She followed her heart and moved to Utah in 2012 with her daughter.

Carol was a beloved, selfless, caring, understanding mother, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her interests were many, and she was known as an amateur photographer, a passionate car-singer, professional penny pincher, and lifelong dog lover. She was an established seamstress and antique collector and restorer. She loved game night with her kids and neighbors as well as building puzzles, skiing, hiking, traveling, and sightseeing. She enjoyed planning all the details for future vacations and trips which was fueled by her sense of adventure and excitement to experience the world. She didn't wait for "someday."

She exuded genuine warmth and compassion, and an absolute zest for life. She cherished her children and family dearly. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Carol left a void that can never be filled.

Carol is survived by her two children Alexa Durkes and Adam Durkes; three siblings Gary (Diane) Jones, Greg (Angie) Jones, and Diane Swan; her two puppies Toby and Chloe; as well as 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Jones and her mother Betty Jones.

The memorial service, or celebration of life, will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home located at 8408 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To commemorate her vibrant life, please feel free to wear bright and fun colors other than black.
