Carmelita Gallegos passed away peacefully in her home on December 31, 2018. She was 95. Her family and friends recently celebrated her birthday on December 13, 2018.
She was born in Pueblo, Colorado and moved to Utah as a young girl. She attended Bingham High School. Carmelita always encouraged her children to take advantage of their educational opportunities.
She married the love of her life, Fidel Gallegos, on June 14, 1944. Together they established the roots of their family with Mom being our trunk from which eight branches grew, Elvira (passed); Richard (passed); Margaret (Jerry) Bowen, Midvale; Robert (Laurie), Kearns; Victoria Flores, Midvale; Cathy (Daniel) Reilly, Holladay; Jesse (Kym), Taylorsville; Dolores (Joseph) Dahlberg, Sandy. Her many leaves included 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her life. She provided the nourishment for all her family to flourish in this world.
Mom (Carm) will be waiting for all of us to be certain we have behaved and have established our own roots, trunk and leaves, just as she did on earth. Moreover, she will be protecting all from Heaven.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Gohari for her loving care over the years, the staff at the Cascade Rehabilitation Center for their dedication, and most recently, the Heartwood Hospice Care, who helped comfort Mom as the Lord accepted her into his arms.
We will miss you, Mom, you were the best Mom and Grandmother anyone could hope for.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 W. Lennox St., Midvale, with a viewing one hour prior. There will be a Rosary and viewing on Thursday at the church, starting at 6 p.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
