Our dear Father, Husband, and Grandfather, Clyde Lee Newton, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 90 on June 7, 2017.
Lee was born February 1, 1927 to Claud Eugene and Ella Kay Newton and was raised at the base of Mount Nebo in Mona, Utah. He spent his youth hunting and fishing with his Dad and four brothers. He graduated from Juab High School and then found his life-long companion and sweetheart Beverly White who was from nearby Goshen. They were married, later solemnized in the Logan Temple, and were happily married for 68 years, and had 5 children. They lived in their home in Cottonwood Heights for 51 years.
He enlisted in the US Navy out of high school, and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings including ward and stake clerk, as well as a counselor in the bishopric. His joys in life were hunting, fishing, camping, golfing with his family and golf buddies, and 'man talk' at McDonalds with his friends. He loved working in his yard and spending summer evenings with Bev on the back porch, being with his family, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, and visiting with relatives and friends. He worked as Plant Superintendent at Rubber Engineering for 32 years where he made many friends and was respected by all those he worked with.
Lee is survived by his children, Larry (Nancy), Donna (Mike) Anderson, Brad (Lani); daughter-in-law, Debbie (Steve) VandeVeere; brother, Lynn (Nick); sister-in-law, Elaine Newton; 16 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bev (last August); his parents; sons, Brent and Kevin (infant); sister, Mern (Harry) Ulmer; and brothers, Ervin, Wayne, and Claude (Vera).
