Brian Lee Jenson

Our beloved son, dear brother, uncle and loyal friend, left this life to return to his Savior on January 1, 2018 in Salt Lake City. We were blessed to have him in our lives for 46 years. He is a unique and creative spirit and found his voice in music and artistic endeavors.

He was born on October 10, 1971 in Salt Lake City to Lee and Linda Jenson. He grew up in Midvale, UT. Brian was a great gymnast through Junior High and won many medals and awards. He attended Hillcrest High School graduating in 1990. While in high school, he participated in the Concert and Vocal Ensemble choirs. Brian and some close friends (Kami Hall and Rob Mouritsen) also formed a band named Banlecoixe (Banish the silence in French), which was featured on KJQ's "Locals Only" several times and played gigs in some local spots. They produced an album "World of Images" in 1991.

Brian served an LDS mission in the Spain Barcelona Mission from 1991 - 1993. He loved Spain, the architecture and the people. He continued to have contact with many close friends from Spain.

He received an Associates Degree from Salt Lake Community College in Graphic Design. This was an area where Brian had specific talents and continued to use these talents to design cover art for various artists and musicians.

Brian worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years as an encoder at the REC (Remote Encoding Center) in Salt Lake City. He made many cherished friendships there and was recognized for his outstanding work.

He was a self-proclaimed music addict. He particularly loved Depeche Mode, OMD, Erasure, Thompson Twins, Radiohead, Howard Jones, Sigur Ros, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, etc. (the list could go on for a long time). He attended many concerts with close friends and recently visited England. The highlight of his trip was visiting some original Depeche Mode sites in Basildon. Brian was known to burn or produce unique collections of music for his friends and family once he knew who their favorites were. He has a collection of music so vast that it would take lifetimes to listen to. Brian taught himself how to play the piano at a very early age by ear. He would hear a song and be able to sit down and play it. Most recently Brian was helping on the synths for The Elixirists and The Magickal. He helped contribute to many other music podcasts. Music truly was his voice.

Brian has a fun-loving personality and liked to tease and surprise those he loved. He was extremely shy and quiet. When you were his friend and he loved you, he was fiercely loyal. He was generous in giving of his time and talents to help others. He adored his nieces and nephews and they loved him because he made them laugh and feel loved. He had nicknames for everyone and often gave original cards and notes with one of a kind lettering and design.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends. We love you Bre and can't wait to see you again and give you a big hug!

Brian is survived by his parents, siblings - Sheri (David) Willett, Julie (Wayne) Porter, Marci (Jim) Duke, and Brett (Krista) Jenson; many nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by infant brother, Jeffrey Andrew Jenson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. Friends may visit with family following the service.
