Brent Rulon Dickey passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was born on June 12, 1945 in Orem, Utah to Woodrow Wilson Dickey and Naomi Park. He served an LDS Mission in the Eastern States Mission during the New York World's Fair, and then never stopped telling stories about it. Brent loved people, and loved telling stories of the adventures he had. He earned his MBA at the University of Utah and bled pure red throughout his life. He went on to have a successful career in business.
Brent was never afraid to go after his dreams and his penchant for going over the top was highlighted by some pretty remarkable accomplishments include owning and flying his own airplane, taking his wife and family on trips, deep sea salmon fishing from his own boat, and more recently riding his Goldwing motorcycle with the Goldwing Road Riders, the Temple Riders and the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club. His motorcycle adventures included an epic trip up through Alaska with his son Doug, passed the Arctic Circle even visiting the town of North Pole. He even tried his hand at square dancing with the Electric Squares and the Rocketeers. Brent loved to experience life in bold ways and to share it with those he loved, always inviting and encouraging them to join in with him. His friendships meant the world to him.
He is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters - Tiffaney Jan Gallup, Stacey Dawn Hutchings, Brendon Matthew Dickey, Mindy Marie Graham and Douglas Johnathan Dickey and 14 grandchildren. He was married to Donelle Stott Dickey for 45 years. He also is survived by 1 brother, Shirlan, and 4 sisters, Brenda, Diane, Carol and Andrea. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter and 2 granddaughters.
His funeral service will take place on Friday, February 17th at the LDS Parkwood Building, 5927 Parkwood Drive (5035 West), Kearns, Utah, 84118 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Elysian Gardens at 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
