Obituary

Boyd H. Hansen, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at home in Mesquite, Nevada, with his loving wife, Emiko, by his side, on March 13, 2018. Boyd was born, the 8th and last child of John Clyde and Jennie Holliday Hansen, on May 1, 1931, in Dayton, Idaho. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1949. He married Luana Dunn in 1950. They had six children together. Later divorced. Boyd subsequently married Emiko Kato on February 26, 1994. Boyd was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed his service in the Church. His livelihoods took him from J.C. Penney Co. to opening his own Western Auto Store in the mid-1960s, to part-ownership in United Homes, where his passion for real estate and home construction were ignited, to running his own home building company with his son, Chris. After leaving Utah, he continued his home building career in the states of California and Washington. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and served as president of the Home builders Association of Utah. He is survived by his wife, Emiko, his six children: J. Michael (Cassandra) Hansen, David (Anne) Hansen, Joy (Craig) Bradley, Steven (Jerry Vaculin) Hansen, Diane (Kevin) Jensen, and Chris (Joan) Hansen; 18 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Boyd's children express their deepest appreciation to Emiko, for the years of loving and devoted care she gave their father. They also wish to thank the Mesa View Hospice workers in Mesquite, Nevada, for their dedicated and compassionate service for the past 3+ years. Funeral services will be held at the Mesa Park Ward, located at 1970 E. Viscounti Dr., Sandy, Utah, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior to the funeral at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
