Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Bill Jacob Nelson, passed away on January 16, 2016.
He was born September 29, 1920, in Heber City, Utah to George and Florence Nelson. He had two brothers, Hugh (Glenna), deceased, and J.R. (Maureen).
He married Donna Lee Jorgensen on Dec. 23, 1946 in the Logan Temple. They are the parents of 4 daughters, Lee Ann, Mary (Stephen) Sharp, Lisa (Thomas) Moeller and Laura (Daryl) McCarty. Their posterity includes 10 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, and spouses, and 23 great grandchildren.
Bill served a mission in the California mission. World War II broke out during this time and when he returned home he joined the Army. He served at the Fourth Army Intelligence Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from BYU with a degree in education. He later earned a Masters Degree from the University of Utah in Educational Administration. He enjoyed being an educator. He served in the Jordan School District for 34 years, 20 years as a principal.
Bill was always active in the LDS church. He served in many positions, including Bishop of the Sandy 5th Ward, and serving at the Jordan River Temple for 17 years.
Bill enjoyed gardening, traveling, and Heber City. Family was always the most important thing to Dad. His family always knew they were loved.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., January 23, 2016 at the Mount Jordan 3rd Ward, 8950 South 400 East. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday prior to services from 10:30 - 11:45. Interment at Sandy City Cemetery.
