Beverly Johnson; mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend; passed quietly from this life, Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born October 28, 1923 to Homer W. and Ellen Arvella Jaynes, in Crescent, now Sandy Utah. She lived the majority of her life within a mile of the house she was born in. Beverly attended Crescent Elementary School, Draper Junior High, and Jordan High School. While at Jordan High she was on the Advanced Typing Team and represented the school in business competitions taking 3rd place in an Intermountain competition. She married her high school sweetheart, Clifton W. Johnson, May 21, 1941. When the war broke out and Dad joined the Navy, she and Ron traveled out of Crescent to be close to Dad in Gulfport, Mississippi and then to Shoemaker, California. These two short periods of time were the only times she did not live close to home and family. When Dad deployed overseas they came home to await his return. In 2013, after experiencing a stroke, she moved to the Logan area to be close to family again.
Beverly was active in the LDS church all of her life. She worked in the Sunday School, was the ward librarian, was Relief Society president in the ward and stake, and was the Relief Society representative on the Regional Council. She was a member of the Jordan River Open House Committee where she coordinated the Relief Society efforts and hosting activities for the open house. She and Dad worked in the Jordan River Temple for 20 years. Beverly was involved for many years doing genealogy work, researching hers and Dad's ancestors, learning to read some Swedish to search the records. She also worked checking the genealogy submissions for the ward. Beverly was a talented homemaker and gifted gardener. Beverly's home and yard were always immaculate and well cared for. She was extremely organized and did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done. Beverly created beautiful handiwork and produced many articles of clothing and items to beautify her home. She could knit, crochet, tat and embroider. She knitted a sweater set for each grandchild and crocheted many beautiful afghans. She taught many granddaughters and nieces to crochet and knit.
Beverly was very aware of the needs and activities of others and often reached out with small acts of kindness helping those around her. She knew about the events and activities in their lives. Her presence and influence was felt by all that she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart, a grandson (Timothy), parents, and brother (Homer, Jr.). She is survived by three sons Ronald (Glenda) Johnson; Stephen (Colleen Mclean) Johnson; Milton (Christine) Johnson; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three sisters Bonnie (Sandy) Sanderson, Mitzie (Roy) Lancaster, and Barbara Young; sister-in-law Thelma (Homer) Jaynes; daughter-in-law, Carol Johnson; many nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staffs at Legacy House of Logan, Logan Regional Hospital, McKay-Dee Hospital, and Sunshine Terrace for their kindness and care. They would also like to thank the many friends and neighbors who helped look out and watch for Mom and Dad.
