Betty Bernice Severson Ray

Betty Bernice Severson Ray, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025, in Sandy, Utah at the age of 95. Betty was born February 25, 1930, in Riverton to Leonard Severson and Bernice Silcox Severson. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Darrell Lloyd Ray (September 30, 2014), whom she married on April 25, 1947.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Donald (Merle) Ray, Gloria (Craig) Day, Karen Rich and Patricia (Ted) Crookston, as well as twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Duane Severson (Shirley).

Betty enjoyed hosting her family for holiday and birthday dinners, especially on Thanksgiving, Christmas and the 4th of July. She also enjoyed countless camping and fishing trips with her children and grandchildren, taking care of her pet cockatiel, Mikey, and feeding the neighbor's cats.

The family would also like to thank all of the hospice nurses for their care and love for Betty over the last few months.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 South 700 East, Sandy. 

Don't cry at my grave because I won't be there. I'll be in the breeze that ruffles your hair. I'll be in the sunshine, and I'll be in the snow. I'll be in the places where we used to go. I'll be in your laughter and in the funny things. I'll be in your shadow, and there in your dreams. I'll be in your greetings, but not your goodbyes. I'll be in the reflection of your loving eyes. I'll always be with you, and I'll always care. So don't cry at my graveside, because I won't be there.
