Our beloved Betty Jo passed away due to heart complications on August 13th, 2020.
Betty Jo was born February 9th, 1948 to Joseph L. Roos and Wanda L. Roos in Murray, Utah. She is survived by her husband James M. Hunter, daughter Kelly M. Hunter, son Thomas C. Hunter, sisters VaLoye and Dean Olson, and Doris and Dale Maim, and siblings William Roos, Linda Roos, and CoDele Roos Tenney. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Reith and Boyde Roos.
Betty Jo was gentle, reserved, and loving towards her grandchildren and step children. She always kept up with their lives by sending birthday cards, holiday cards, and anniversary cards. Betty Jo loved to read books and play crossword and word finding puzzles. Her favorite music groups included the Moody Blues, the Eagles, and Neil Diamond. One of her favorite songs was "broken" by lovelytheband. Her favorite colors were blue and purple. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Betty Jo loved butterflies, horses, cats, and had a soft spot for puppies. She loved to bake birthday cakes and cookies for her family and friends. She loved to dine out on Saturday nights as well as catch or rent an occasional movie, then watch it with her loved ones. She enjoyed game night, playing dominoes or card games with the in-laws and step children. Betty Jo and her husband Mike joined a mixed bowling league, for many years, and always traveled to Wendover with the group at the end of the season.
Betty Jo also loved camping in Utah, Colorado, Idaho, and Wyoming. She loved to travel to the Elko/Spring Creek area in Nevada.
Betty Jo's extended family, whom she cared for deeply: Mike's daughter Jamie L. Peterson, her husband Laine Peterson, their son Anthony Peterson, Mike's son Michael Shayne Hunter and his sons Rogan Hunter and Beau Hunter, her grandchildren John and Joey Conwell, Landon and Camron Evans, and William Richardson.
Whenever you see a butterfly, think of Betty Jo.
Graveside services will be held Aug. 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 S. 700 E., Sandy, Utah, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, Utah.
