Bernice Otasue

Bernice Otasue, 94, passed away on January 7, 2019 in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born on May 18, 1924 in Eureka, Utah to Fred Otasue and Estefania Yrigoyen Otasue.

Bernice graduated from LDS Business College with an Associate's Degree in Business. During her career she worked for the Civil Air Patrol, the World Bank, and J.W. Brewer Tire Company in Salt Lake City. In 1970, she went to work as the executive assistant to the Director of the National Wool Growers' Association (NWGA) in Salt Lake City. In 1976, she relocated to Washington DC to continue to working for the NWGA for another 17 years.

She is survived by her niece, Stephanie Argoitia (Dave Williams); her grand-niece, Jennifer Argoitia McClish (Ralph); her grand-nephew, Jonathan Argoitia; and, her great-grand-niece, Amaya Renee McClish.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Estefania, her brother, Fred Otasue, her sister, Irene Otasue Gamboa, her brother-in-law, Fermin Gamboa, and her nephew, Fredrick J. Gamboa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent's Parish, 1375 Spring Lane, SLC, UT. Friends may call before the mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bernice's name to the Utah Basque Club and/or the Humane Society of Utah.
