Our most beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Belva Johnston Wright, age 99, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2023. She was born February 14, 1923, to Vera Winters Johnston and Wilfred Visick Johnston in Coalville, Utah. She attended North Summit High School, where she developed a love of learning and also was a cheerleader for the Braves. Belva married Ray Bowers Wright on May 7, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. Belva loved sewing, reading, and watching baseball (her beloved Atlanta Braves). She was the bookkeeper when Ray owned a truck line and took her skills and knowledge of the trucking business to work for Whitfield and CR England in later years. She adored and cherished her family and was fiercely protective of all of them. She was very patriotic and loved her country.
Belva was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served in many callings. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and colorful stories. In her later years, Belva was so patient in spite of the many physical limitations that she endured. She will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her son Robert J. Wright, her parents, and siblings. She is survived by the following: daughter Teresa (Marvin) Pace, son Farrell (Lori) Wright, son Stuart (Tracy) Wright, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. We appreciate all those who helped care for Mom, especially the loving kindness that Jeanette Vernon always extended to her. Services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Wanship Chapel, 30899 Old Lincoln Highway at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
