After a life of love, laughter and service, our mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt and friend, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 27, 1926 to Herschel S. and Mary Hansen Egbert in Riverton, Utah, where she resided all her life. She graduated from Jordan High School. She married Adelbert E. (Dell) Shomaker on July 3, 1946 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. He passed away on May 19, 1996, just two months before their 50th wedding anniversary.
Barbara loved living in Riverton and spent many hours serving in the community. She and Dell were members of the Riverton Jaycees and later the Lions Club. They helped cook many July 4th breakfasts, built floats and helped to beautify the original Riverton City Park and baseball diamonds. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she happily served in all auxiliaries.
She is survived by her children, Joan and Ivan Hodges, Robin Shomaker, Michelle and Kenneth Koontz; grandchildren, Chad Hodges, Jennifer and Paul Richards, Heather and Joshua Maw, Andrea and Scott Carter, Emily and Cory Liston; great grandchildren, Dallin, Kaitlin, Preston, Parker and Brynne Richards, Kylie, Saige, Grace and Gunar Maw, Herschel Vandegraft, Adam and Dylan Liston; niece, Lynda and Doug Watson; nephew, Robert and Kathy Egbert.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dell; parents, brothers, Robert and John; sister in law, Susie Egbert.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. Friends and family may call 1 hour prior to the services. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
