Barbara Ann Kloth, 79, our fun-loving wife, mother, grandma and sister, passed away on April 12, 2024 at home in Sandy, Utah. She was born October 27, 1944 in Chico, California to James Papez & Ernestine Olshen. Barbara graduated from Chico High School with the class of 1962. She married William George Shalz, and later divorced. She married Kenneth Kloth, and they resided in Sandy, Utah for forty plus years.
Barbara worked at McDonalds for over twenty years, SkyWest Airlines for almost ten years and a short stint at Costco. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed swimming, bowling, joining several bowling leagues throughout the years. Barbara also enjoyed dancing, waterskiing, camping, shopping, cleaning, traveling, especially going on cruises and loved her hot tub. She played the slot machines in Wendover, Las Vegas, or wherever she could. Barbara stepped out of her comfort zone and played a part in the local Sandy play, Footloose.
She was a leukemia survivor and Marcin Wozniak from Poland was her stem cell donor.
Barbara loved her precious cocker spaniels, Sugar I and Sugar II.
Survived by her husband, Kenneth Kloth; daughter, Marni (Walter) Doernbach; son, Billy Shalz (Amy); grandchildren, Brittany, Olivia (Corbin), Phoebe (Trenton), Quentin, Jaxxin and Shazaya; siblings, Ed (Joyce) Lannert and Carole Mickelson (Les) stepsister, Marilyn Raffety; and 4 great granddaughters.
Preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Linda Whipple.
Barbara had a zest for life. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She has left us with the gift of special memories.
A viewing will be held from 4-5 p.m., with a dinner to follow, on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. The burial will take place in Chico, California at a later date.
