Barbara Ann Sargeant Aikin passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Taylorsville, UT, from causes incident to age. Barbara was born May 16, 1922 in Seymour, IN to Earnest W and Thelma Wheeler Sargeant. She attended Seymour High School, Purdue University (BS), and University of Wisconsin (MS in Microbiology). Married Robert Avril Aikin, September 4, 1949 in Seymour, IN. Together they raised two sons, Andy Aikin Wells and Stephen Matthew Aikin.

Barbara was an excellent student where she excelled to Valedictorian of her high school class. Robert and Barbara lived in Denver, CO, moved and settled in the San Diego County area where Barbara worked for Convair Aeronautics and Schripps Clinic in San Diego, CA. After retirement they moved to Murray, KY then to Las Cruces, NM and finally to West Jordan, UT, where Robert passed away in July 2011.

Barbara was a member of the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church in Holladay, UT where she loved attending and enjoyed her church family.

Barbara is survived by sons, Andy (Karen) Wells, Stephen (Lori) Aikin; four sisters, Nancy Bishop, Sally Reeves, Cynthia (Lynn) Schrier, Judy (Hoyal) Lockett, four grandsons, Justin (Farrah) Wells, Trevor (Misty) Aikin, Stephen Aikin, and CJ Strong. Also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the ladies at Senior Helpers and Care Source Hospice Care for their love and support during her final months.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday February 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, 1416 E Vine St., Holladay, UT.

Interment was at Fort Rosecrans National Military Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
