Arlene Edla Glew Williamson

Arlene Edla Glew Williamson was born on May 15, 1936, in San Francisco to Kenneth Martin Glew and Hilma Linnea Sund Glew. She was named after her Swedish grandmother, Edla Tibbling Sund. She grew up in San Francisco, attending Frank McCoppin Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, and graduated from George Washington High School.
She met Harold (Herb) Williamson at church; he was stationed in the Army at the Presidio of San Francisco. They both attended Brigham Young University for a year and were married on June 10, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many positions in the church, mainly as ward and stake organist for each ward they lived in. She was also privileged to play the organ in the Jordan River Temple baptistry.
She retired from her much loved job as secretary at Midvale Elementary School after 24 years and was loved by all the students she served. She loved working in family history, reading, belonging to a book club, singing in the ward choir, and creating many beautiful craft items. She solved the crossword and sudoku puzzles in the newspaper every morning. She hated crickets, grammatical mistakes, and misspelled words in printed articles and books. She enjoyed proof-reading books and had a talent in all English related fields. She dearly loved her grandchildren and had a special relationship with each of them.
Arlene is survived by her children: John (Brenda), Lianne (Sam Van Eeden), Kent (Heidi); her sister Everlie Powell; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, her parents, her brother Jordan and her son Bret.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8350 South Jackson Street, Midvale, Utah. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial was previously held at the South Jordan Cemetery.
