Ardath Lynne Stapel

Ardath Lynne Stapel passed away in her home peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on January 26, 2022.

Lynne was born on August 10, 1937 to Ardath Rasmussen Tripp and Jack Willis Tripp in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in Sandy, Utah as the oldest of three children.

After graduating from Jordan High School in 1955, she married Charles Lewis Cash and was subsequently blessed with her first three children. They later divorced.

She married Ralph Gordon (R.G.) Stapel in 1964 and, with open arms, welcomed his two daughters into her heart. They were then blessed with six additional children to round out the core of what would become a large extended family.

Her family was her greatest joy. All eleven children were loved with all her heart. Too many others to name entered her life as friends or neighbors and became part of her family. They too were cherished.

Lynne operated a school bus for many years for the Jordan School District as one of the first female bus drivers.

After her retirement she served a mission in Nashville, Tennessee. She regularly served in the temple and filled many ward and stake callings.

Travel gave her much joy.  She had the opportunity to go to many beautiful places in the United States and around the world with her friends and members of her family.

She had multiple hobbies. Her abundant garden fed her family, friends and neighbors. Her sewing clothed us all. Her beautifully decorated cakes were the centerpiece of countless birthdays and weddings and her paintings hang on many walls. Her home is filled with books because she loved to read. But she will be most remembered for her crochet. Her lace and dolls are works of amazing skill and art. Every child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandchild has at least one afghan as a reminder of her love.

She is survived by all of her children: Tracy, Faith, Peter (Loie), John (Paulianna), Tera (Dayne), Dawn, Gordon (Darla), James, Susanne (Jerry), David (Heidi), Christopher (Shelly), and her 38 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack Tripp, her sister Arba Smith, her husband, her daughter-in-law Wendy Stapel and her son-in-law Paul Matina.

We love you Mom and Grandma.

Rest in peace and love.
