It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anngella "Sheri" (Jacks) Hansen after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Sheri was born on October 14, 1942 and sadly left this world on April 19, 2025. Sheri was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, successful businesswoman, dedicated volunteer, and cherished member of her community.
Sheri is survived by her loving daughters, Molly Benedum (Chip), Lisa Dye (Rick), and Jenny Hansen (Albert), grandchildren, Nicolle Mackey (Nick), Kaity Benedum (Chris), Hayley Benedum (Larry), Anne Hart (Parker), Brady Peterson, Maggie Dye, Sam Peterson, Ethan Dye, Patrick Benedum, Will Peterson and Emma Dye, great-grandchildren, Harper, Jameson and Jacob Mackey, and sister-in-law, Sue Wekerle. She was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Kathleen Jacks, and her brother, Nicholas Jacks. Her family's memories of her continue to inspire and guide them.
Sheri dedicated her time to volunteering with La Leche League of the United States of America and the Cleft Parent Guild of Los Angeles while her daughters were young, and in later years was active with The Healer Within Foundation. Her dedication to these organizations showed her deep-rooted belief in the power of giving back to her community. Sheri spent her career as an Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper and through that contributed to the success of several businesses including the former Barbara Beall Etcetera in Santa Barbara, California.
Sheri was an avid reader and enjoyed taking her dogs (Sydney and Gracie - both deceased) for walks around Santa Barbara. She loved nature and had a gorgeous collection of plants and orchids that thrived under her green thumb. Sheri’s appreciation for the beautiful things in life was reflected in her love for art in which she found immense joy. She also loved great food and was an amazing cook. She had a fondness for the classic beauty of Firenze (Florence, Italy), a place she often called her favorite city in the world.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sheri will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will continue to live on in those she touched throughout her life. It is with the deepest sorrow we say goodbye, but also with the greatest respect for a life well-lived. Rest in peace, Mom.
