Obituary
Anne Christine Smith peacefully graduated to the next life on January 1, 2019. Most people who knew her lovingly called her Chris or Christy. She was born on November 29, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to Beatrice Maxine and Stephen Milton Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her older brother Stephen Smith, also of Salt Lake City.
Chris graduated from Highland High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. She spent some time in Anchorage, Alaska as a Counselor for the Salvation Army Comprehensive Alcoholism Services. She also worked as an Enumerator doing statistical reporting for the Department of Agriculture and as an Apprentice Interior Decorator.
She loved the arts of all kinds and was full of creativity. She spent many years in dance and vocal performance. Jazz and classical music from the 40’s and 50’s were her favorites. She loved singing with her friends at various clubs and Joan Baez had the privilege to have Chris and her group be her opening act here in Utah. She loved to express herself through drawing and poetry. She also enjoyed sharing her life with some very special dogs and cats who were her constant companions.
Chris was a true friend to all she knew. Her relationships were very important and gave meaning to her life. She was interested in helping and blessing others by sharing what she had learned through her life experiences and training. We will miss her smile, her laugh and her loving concern for us all.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” held at 4:00 pm on Saturday February 2, 2019 at Friendship Manor, A Lounge, where Chris was residing. It is located at 1320 E. 500 S. in Salt Lake City, UT. We would love for you to share any memories that you have of Chris on the website
