April 22, 1944 — June 27, 2018

Ann Etta Ashley

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Daughter, Sister and Friend passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on a beautiful summer evening Wednesday, June 27th. Her passing came after a valiant series of battles with cancer. She was 74 years old.

Ann was born the 22nd of April, 1944 in Price, Utah to Floyd Littley and Lois Monson Andrews. After graduating from East Carbon High School, Ann moved to the Salt Lake City area and has stayed there ever since. She met Larry Morgan and was married on April 27th, 1963. They had 3 children: Melanie, Michael, and Sherrie. They lived on Gregson Avenue across from Larry's parents for a number of years. At this time Ann worked for the Century Theaters on 3300 South and 2nd East. Later the family moved and mom had stayed there throughout the remainder of her life. Larry and Ann were sealed to each other in the Salt Lake Temple.

They divorced in 1978. Later, She met Herschel Ashley. They shared a love of the outdoors. They would fill their spare time hunting for rabbits, pheasant, deer, elk, and of course fishing. They were married on January 25th, 1980. After about 4 years Hersch passed away from a massive heart attack in 1984 at the age of 39.

Ann worked a long history with McDonalds Corporation. She loved it there and was in turn loved by all those who worked with her. Following in her footsteps, Melanie, Michael and Sherrie also spent some time working for the Golden Arches.

After almost 10 years at McDonalds, Ann moved on to another vocation. She worked as a cashier at Premium Oil on 21st South and 300 West. She established the same legacy there of love, acceptance, hard work, and dependability. She was so well known, loved, and respected that she was even the poster child for a customer service campaign.

In recent years, her love went to her family, church callings, and book club. She served in the LDS church and loved bearing her testimony. Even though she had not been an accomplished orator, she had faith in the calling and let the Lord develop her speaking talents to where she was an amazing speaker with great confidence.

Aside from her dedication to the Lord, her undeniable passion was for family. Nothing in the world was better than the yearly family reunion. If you couldn't find Grandma, it was likely that you would find her playing cards or visiting in someone's trailer. To get together and reconnect with extended family as well as spending dedicated time with close family brought her the greatest joy possible. Ann loved going to her grandchildren's talent shows, dance recitals, plays and baseball games.

Ann is survived by brothers Paul Andrews (Phylis), Bruce Andrews (Karen) and Dale Andrews (Linda). Also survived by her three children Melanie Ann Smithson (Phil), Michael Larry Morgan (Katherine) and Sherrie Morgan (Neal), grandchildren Ryan Glen Smithson (Keisha), Brittney Lujan, Nathan Lujan, Trever Smithson, Parker Morgan (Lisa), Kennedy Hermansen (Daniel), Brooke Lujan, Isabella Ann Morgan, great-grandchildren Jaxon Glen Smithson, Kolbie Smithson, and Madison Morgan Lujan. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Floyd Littley and Lois Monson Andrews, and husband Herschel Ashley.
