Anita Orenstein

Anita Orenstein, beloved Mother, Bubbe (Grandmother) and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 20th 2016. Anita was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the first child of Alan Posen and Estelle (Esther) Munitz Posen. In her teen years, she excelled in art and drama, winning several awards for her talent. She married at 18, and although the marriage was short-lived, it produced her only child, her daughter Laura, for whom she lived for. Anita worked hard to provide for Laura as a single parent, and with the help of her beloved Uncle Milton (Mendel) Munitz, she was able to go back to school to get a degree in Medical Record Coding. She graduated after being on the Deans list and used her education, intelligence and leadership to quickly grow in the field. By the time she retired, she was highly respected in the field, a mentor to many, and a published author of several texts. Her true joy in life though were her grandchildren, Leah (12) and Ben (9). She lived for their hugs and smiles, and they adored their Bubbe, taking many special trips together or just cuddling together watching TV. She will be sorely missed by her daughter and grandchildren, she was a huge part of their everyday lives, but they know she will continue to watch over them. Anita is also survived by her mother, two sisters (Elaine McDowell and Carol Nye), brother (Ken Posen), and countless friends that were family to her. She was preceeded in death by her father, Grandmother Leah Kodish Munitz, Grandfather Morris Munitz, and like a father Uncle Mendel. A memorial will be held at Aspen Funeral Services in Sandy UT on Saturday May 28th from 2-4 PM. All who knew and loved Anita are welcome to come to share stories and memories.
