Alma passed away on July 11, 2017. He was born on May 29, 1932 in Panguitch, Utah to Annie LeFevre and Ralph James Wilcock. He spent his first 13 years on the farm in Spry, North of Panguitch, Utah. He graduated from Panguitch High in 1950, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 11, that following year. He spent four years aboard the USS Phillip DDE-498. During his time in the Navy, he spent 3, six-month tours in the Korean war zone. He traveled to many places, and in 1954 he witnessed one of the 1st Hydrogen Bomb Test near the Bikini Atoll in the South Pacific.
He married the love of his life, Carma Mae Sizemore, of Tabiona, Utah on May 27, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Alma spent his career working as a Fire Protection Engineer, where he designed fire sprinkler systems for buildings all across the western U.S. and into Canada. He spent two years of his career working at the Vandenburg Air Force Base Cal., designing sprinkler systems for the space shuttle launch facility, where he saw the Shuttle, Discovery.
Alma was a natural in the world of arts and music. He drew many pencil portraits, painted many oil paintings, and even took up scrapbooking for a year or two. Alma loved music and singing, and loved passing time, singing with his girls. In his younger years, he was a part of the Beehive Harmony LADS Barbershop Quartet and the Beehive Statemen's Chorus. Alma was an active member in the L.D.S. church and served many years as the Assistant Ward Clerk, in three different wards. His later years in life were spent telling stories, puzzling, visiting family, and eating "the best meal he ever had," which was every meal. He loved his faith and family more than anything, and never hesitated to express his love or appreciation for the "good life" he lived.
He is survived by wife, Carma, daughters, Charlotte Wilkes, Sheila Smith (Ron), Sherrie Dennison (David), and Shauna Haws, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and stillborn son, Ken Wilcock.
A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12 Noon with a viewing prior to services from 11:00 - 11:45 am at the Midvale East 2nd Ward, 7250 S. 300 E., Midvale, Utah. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah.
