Allan Spencer Kay, 86, was born on June 8, 1937 in Mona, Utah to Spencer and Mabel Fowkes Kay. He passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Allan was a graduate of Juab High School and went on to college to get a degree in welding. He was an ironworker, welder, and farmer most of his life. He was a hard and dedicated worker. When he was not working at Geneva Steel, he was spending time on the farm. This was his passion. It led him to move his family from Pleasant Grove, Utah, back to Mona to be closer to his family and the farm.
It was love at first sight when he met and then married the love of his life, Terrie Lee Zabriskie, in Nephi on November 27, 1959. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 24, 1970. They were married for 63 years. They had four daughters, Shauna Kay, Lori Veater (Ron), Tiffanie Cowles (Ryan), and Rachel Coomes (Joel). His family was his greatest treasure and he loved spending time with all of them.
Allan loved rodeos and told everyone that the reason for his limp was because he was thrown from a bucking bull. He was infamously known as the Mona cowboy. He loved riding around Mona with his brother, Larry, trying to find the next person to harass. He was a loyal and faithful friend to so many. You knew you were loved if you were heckled by him.
He was a man of integrity that hated conflict. He would rather lose money or property in order to keep the peace.
Allan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully behind the scenes in many church callings. He always led by example and was always willing to serve others in any circumstance.
Allan is survived by his wife, four children, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a sister, Janet Craig (Carl), and a brother, Richard Kay (RaeLene). He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers (Larry, Joseph, Brent, and Douglas).
