Mona, Utah ---- On March 20, 2018, our beloved mother and grandmother Alice Rowe Newton Roundy passed away in Nephi, Utah, at the age of 88. She was born on May 9, 1929, to Dudley Faux Rowe and Marie Anderson Rowe in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She grew up a tomboy riding her horse and was proud to have graduated from Wasatch Academy. Alice married Ross L. Newton on December 23, 1946, and they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on May 14, 1964. They had three sons Edward (Brenda) Newton, Howard (Kae) Newton, and Steve (Marie) Newton. She also lost several babies at birth. On August 11, 1984, she married Robert (Ace) Roundy and gained five children, Sandra Roundy, Douglas (Susann) Roundy, Loralee Tidwell, Duane (Chris) Roundy, and Phil (Pam) Roundy.
Alice was active in the LDS church and enjoyed working at the temple. She served two missions with Ace in the Bismark North Dakota area mission. She loved serving in Fort Yates on the Indian Reservation and in the church seminaries. She was a hard worker and worked for many years in bookkeeping at NRP and Chappell Oil, and then served two terms as the Juab County Clerk. Her home was always a place to gather for food, family, and friends which she truly cherished.
Alice is survived by her sons, 30 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; her sister Helen Platt; brothers Don, Andy, and Charles Rowe; grandsons Raymond Newton, Aaron Newton, Spencer Roundy; granddaughter Kristyn Newton; and great-granddaughter Gracee Ballow.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mona 2nd Ward Church, 65 East 100 North in Mona. Friends and family may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North in Nephi, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church before the funeral. Interment will be at the Mona City Cemetery.
