Alice Ann Parkinson Hughes passed away peacefully at home with her family April 17, 2016 at the great age of 96. Born August 6, 1919 in Preston England and married to Ronald Hughes February 17, 1940. Together they survived World War II, the 60's and two wonderful children, Michael Ronald (spouse Joyce Garner) and Janice (spouse Allan). Preceded in death by Ronald in 1987, son-in-law Allan Hooton, granddaughters Kimberly and Tracy. Alice was an example, inspiration and matriarch to her children, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Ron and Alice converted to the LDS church in 1951 remaining steadfast and faithful to God and family their entire lives. Alice held many church callings and diligently helped hold the Preston Branch together. Interestingly, the Preston Ward is now the oldest continuous ward in the LDS church throughout the world. Alice and Ron worked at the London temple for five years, they traveled many times throughout Europe and the states with family and friends. For twenty or more years after Ron passed Alice annually spent nine months in England to maintain her home and three months in Utah to be with her family. She was always happy and a delight to be around. Nobody ever wanted her to stop talking. She will be sorely missed yet fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her on any level. A viewing will be held Saturday April 23 at 11:30 am, funeral service at 1 pm located at the South Mountain 4th Ward, 1911 E Grey Fox Dr. in Draper.
