Adelle Dorrance

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend Adelle Wheat Dorrance passed away on December 9, 2024 at the age of 82 with her loving family by her side and was reunited with the love of her life.

Adelle was born on March 7, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Claude Wheat and Elizabeth Stillman Wheat. Adelle was the youngest of five children, sharing that with her twin sister. She grew up on a farm on the east bench of Millcreek where her family had 64 acres of land. During World War II, at the young age of 2, Adelle’s father unexpectedly passed. Her mother, Elizabeth, went to work as a teacher at Olympus Jr. High School while Adelle’s grandmother, Selina Stillman, lived with them and helped raise the children.

Adelle married the love of her life, Richard Dorrance on September 9, 1961, in Salt Lake City.

Adelle and Richard had two children together, Jonathan and David Dorrance that they raised in Midvale, Utah.

She attended BYU, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Mathematics with a Minor in Psychology. Adelle had a very successful career and enjoyed working many years for BD Medical.

She spent the majority of her years living in South Jordan.

She lived a great, full life and traveled a lot for work and pleasure, she had so many talents and qualities. Adelle had an amazing garden and has sewn many beautiful quilts and blankets. She has a love for the color red and baseball. Fun Fact: she has visited every Major League Baseball Stadium during her time here.

Adelle’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She has 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with two more on the way that she is loving on the other side until they arrive in 2025.

Adelle is survived by her sons: Jon (Cyndi), David (Lark), her grandchildren: Austin (Jessica), Drew (Veronica), Aubree (Alex Johnson), Tanner (Christine), Koa (Chloe) and Nathan. Great Grandchildren: Alexis, Lillian, Ava, William, Swayze and Reddek.

Welcoming her on the other side is her husband, her parents, sisters Deon Wheat and Sally Worrel, and her brothers William and Quentin Wheat, her grandmother Selina Stillman, and great grandson, Frank.
